Series:
Two or more resistors are connected in series when applying to set a potential difference, all of which are traversed by the same current. To determine the equivalent resistance of a series association then: Rtotal = R1 + R2 +...+ Rn. Therefore, the resistance mounted an equivalent resistance in series is equal to the sum of these resistances.
Parallel:
Two or more resistors are in parallel when they are two common terminals so that when applied across a potential difference, UAB, all the resistors have the same voltage drop, UAB, which will lead to demand the same intensity, I. To determine the equivalent resistance of a parallel combination then: 1/Rtotal = 1/R1 +1 / R2 +...+ 1/Rn. So the equivalent resistance a parallel combination is equal to the inverse of the sum of the inverse of each of the resistors.

b) Parallel
c) total or equivalent resistance
